Xbox 360 - Know what you buy...

While I have recently (November 2007) bought a Wii, I am always looking at the bundles/offerings for PS3 and Xbox360 systems. Wii is great for the group (when we manage to gather) and its kiddy games are a nice break from the gaming standards of the PC. However, I get tempted from the "dark side" of PS3 and Xbox 360, with all the new "more demanding" game titles that appear constantly and will probably never be ported to the PC platform, along with the fact that I am growing tired of rebuilding my PC every once in a while.

In the midst of all that, a friend is selling his Xbox 360. The one he bought got the "three red lights" and he sent it back some time ago. He is offering to sell me the replacement, which is probably a refurbished piece of electronics. I am still wondering over it, but the price is good. However I wanted to find more about Xbox 360 versions and hardware specs before I moved on with the purchase.

I have found these two links which provide some in depth information on how to identify the version of Xbox 360 one has at hand, along with nice pictures. I consider them a must!
